If Christianity were
a Football Game
What would that look
like?
Would you be a quarterback, wide receiver, running back,
lineman defense-man, coach, cheer leader, in the stands, selling food, or in the
parking lot playing?
The scripture says everyone should test themselves Gal.6 3-4
for if you think your something when your not you have been deceived.
We know what football is but what is a Christian? According
to God’s word in Acts 11: 26 “the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch”.
So one would have to be a disciple of Jesus first, learning and doing what he
said, yes?
So it’s a good thing to examine one’s self. Where do you fit
in this analogy? Are you in the game, watching from a distance in the stands,
out in the concession stand making $$$, playing in the parking lot?
Does going to church, or going to a small group qualify us
as disciples and where does that put us in this analogy of Football?
1Cor.11: 27Therefore,
whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will
be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and
drinks of the cup. 29For
anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and
drinks judgment on himself. 30That is
why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen
asleep. 31But if
we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment. 32When we
are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be
condemned with the world.
The GOOD NEWS is God LOVES you and wants a relationship with
you, a real personal one that allows you to be in the middle of what HE is
doing today and not somewhere else in the stands etc. If you haven’t or aren’t
experiencing that just ask and you’ll receive.
